Uniform Policy
Our students at Al Ain American School are held to high expectations and standards. We promote a professional atmosphere and prepare our students for life in a competitive world. At all times, we encourage students to act professionally and present themselves. The official school uniform vendor; ZAKS has a list of uniform items for each grade level. It is the obligation of the students and their parents to ensure that the student is in proper uniform every day.
Purpose:
The primary goal of wearing a school uniform is to eliminate opportunities for bullying and peer pressure. All students are expected to dress to the Al Ain American School's professional standard at all times.
Scope:
When followed properly, this policy will be used by all personnel in accordance with the School's Behavior Policy and will reward children of all ages and grade levels. Staff reporting of ongoing uniform issues will necessitate coordination with Heads of Departments (HODs) and the Happiness Team, who will act to rectify the issues and, if necessary, issue additional notices. The final decision maker will be the principal, and students who do not follow the uniform regulations and are unwilling to address any difficulties will be sent home to change.
Responsibility:
All members of the school community – students, parents, and staff – are responsible for students and the proper wearing of the School Uniform. The wearing of school uniform is required and should be worn to and from school as well as in and around the school grounds. We expect parents to assist us in maintaining a high level of dress and presentation.
School and Staff Responsibilities:
- Remind students of the school uniform guidelines and expectations in assemblies, in classrooms on a regular basis.
- Recognize and reward students who are smart and properly dressed in their uniform.
- Be personable, responsive, and aware of any concerns at home that may cause problems with the Uniform, and report them to the Happiness Team, who will work to resolve the issue.
- Recognize, correct, and discipline inappropriate School Uniform wear in accordance with the school's ‘Behavior Policy.’
Student Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the School's Uniform Policy by wearing the appropriate attire.
- Correctly wear the School's Uniform, such as a tucked-in shirt that ties up to the collar and has the top button secured.
- When it comes to footwear, adhere to the School's Uniform Policy.
- At school, we should do our best to keep our uniforms clean and presentable.
Parental Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining a good standard of clothing and presentation, as well as proper school uniform wear to and from school and in and around the school.
- If a student is having trouble meeting the School Uniform standards, notify the Homeroom Teacher, Happiness Team, or Head of the Departments (HODs)
- If there are any medical reasons why wearing the School Uniform is difficult or needs to be modified to fit that individual's needs, provide medical information or a letter from the GP.
- Provide students with the proper School Uniform apparel and prohibit them from purchasing improper or wrong goods.
- Assist the student in keeping his or her uniform and personal hygiene clean and neat.
