Student Arrival & Dismissal Policy

 

Arrival Procedures of School

·       Students should only be the school/school grounds no earlier than the entry time i.e., 07:30 AM.

·       School staff will be on duty in school 5 minutes prior to the official school gate opening time.

·       On entering the school building student must go to their classes.

·       During the school day, supervision of students inside and outside occurs with assigned staff members around the school until till the end of the school hours.

·       The school staff have the responsibility for monitoring and reporting upon behavior and are expected to maintain acceptable standards of behavior, which recognize the rights of children.

Dismissal Procedures of School

·       Students should be off campus by 2:30 P.M., unless on a school related trip or program, with parent’s approval for pick up beyond this time, and proper adult supervision has been assigned.

·       Parents, guardians, or drivers should promptly pick up students dismissed at 2:20 P.M. Students who ride the bus home will make their way to the busses.

·       The uncollected children remain school until they are collected by their parent/guardian or authorized person.

·       Students who are not picked up at dismissal will wait in designated, supervised areas until their transportation arrives. The reception area will only be used for students waiting after 3:15 p.m. for their transport.

·       Students are not allowed to leave the school grounds at any time without parental and/or Homeroom Teacher’s permission.

·       If it is suspected that a student has left the school site then school staff will try to get the student back in to school. However, if a student’s refuses or runs away too quickly then parents will be contacted immediately.

·       If no one is available on the emergency telephone numbers and staff are unable to locate the child the police will be informed. If a child is ill then they will not be allowed to go home unless a responsible adult collects them. If a parent requires a child to leave school early, they must collect them.

·       No supervision is provided outside the school grounds, except on school-related activities.

·       Students not participating in an after-school activity, or not attending preapproved remedial classes with teachers, must exit campus directly after school.

·       Parents who continue to pick up their students late, (after 3:00 P.M., and students are not on campus for after-school events or extra-curricular activities), will be penalized for lateness.

·       If a student is not collected at the end of the school, the following procedure will be followed:

a.      A staff member will remain with the student.

b.      Parents and emergency contacts will be contacted and the coordinator informed.

c.       All reasonable attempts to contact parent/cares have been made the school will then make contact with the police.

·       Parents must inform staff if the person who is not listed on the child’s authorized pick-ups will be collecting the student.

·       Staff will not release a student to a person who is not identified on the authorized pick-ups. If an unauthorized person comes to collect the student, parents will be contacted for authorization prior to releasing the student. Staff will explain this to the unauthorized person before phoning the parent, to ensure there is no misunderstanding.

·       Upon completion of their scheduled classes and after school-sponsored activities, students are expected to leave the campus promptly.

·       In the event further use of school facilities is necessary, a student must be supervised by a parent or obtain permission from the principal.

·       Students are not allowed to visit, unsupervised, local businesses after dismissal from school. Any discipline issues that occur from students who went to local businesses after school without proper adult supervision, will be considered an extension of the school and face school disciplinary consequences.
