Parent Representative Council Policy
Purpose:
The Al Ain American School Parent Council serves as a collaborative platform between parents, teachers, and school administration to enhance the overall educational experience for students. The purpose of the Parent Council is to foster communication, involvement, and cooperation among parents, staff, and the school community. Having an active Parent Council gives the platform to the stakeholders to be heard and voice their opinion in administrative decisions that go a long way in impacting the educational experience delivered at school.
Membership:
- The Parent Council shall consist of elected representatives from different grade level.
- Elections will be held annually, allowing parents to nominate and vote for their representatives.
- The council will include a chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, and treasurer, elected from the council members.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Communication:
- Facilitate communication between parents, teachers, and school administration.
- Promote transparency and open dialogue on matters affecting the school community.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with school administration to address concerns and implement initiatives that benefit students and the school community.
- Work in partnership with teachers and staff to support educational programs and extracurricular activities.
Events and Activities:
- Plan and organize events that promote community building, such as family fun nights, cultural celebrations, and educational workshops.
- Support school-wide activities and fundraisers in coordination with the school administration.
Advocacy:
- Advocate for the needs and concerns of parents, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
- Work with the school administration to address issues related to student welfare, curriculum, and school policies.
Feedback Mechanism:
- Establish a formal mechanism for parents to provide feedback on school-related matters.
- Regularly communicate feedback to the school administration for consideration in decision-making processes.
Meetings:
- Regular meetings shall be held at least once a month, with additional meetings scheduled as needed.
- Meetings shall be open to all parents, with the agenda shared in advance.
- Meeting minutes will be recorded and made available to all parents.
